In recent years, online shopping has been booming. Today, we order a mindblowing average of 1 million parcels every day. The Belgian trade sector federation Comeos wants to turn the tide and make e-commerce deliveries more sustainable.
Together with the VUB, they developed a tool that helps you pick a more sustainable delivery option. The calculation tool maps out all the ways a parcel travels from the distribution centre to your home, taking into account various elements like air pollution, climate change and noise pollution.
Our copy and design team worked out a new name and logo, keeping in mind that the tool has to stand on its own and has the look and feel of an independent and science-based quality label.
The name of the new tool had to appeal to both Dutch and French-speaking consumers, be descriptive and easy to grasp. ‘Smartdrop’ ticks all three boxes and is catchy too.
Talking about ‘ticking boxes’, the logo also has a smart design, combining a location pin and a checkmark. The checkmark does not only refer to the act of picking the most sustainable delivery location, it also shows you made the right choice.
Because the location pin is red, it is easy to recognise. We combine the bright red with a light blue colour. Firstly, because it gives a nice contrast and secondly because the blue refers to a clear blue sky, free of pollution.
